KUCHING: Sarawak has requested for additional allocations for the development of geological mapping and mineral resource studies.

This was among the matters raised by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at the 2nd National Minerals Meeting in Putrajaya on Monday (May 8).

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, was also attended by the Menteri Besar from states throughout Malaysia.

Awang Tengah also emphasised the importance of Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which listed mining as one of the focuses.

Also present during the meeting were Sarawak Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources permanent secretary Datuk Zaidi Mahdi and Sarawak Land and Survey Department director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi.
