MIRI: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government will continue to prioritise a holistic infrastructure development to ensure that the people are well connected through a network of roads, bridges and telecommunication.

“This is our election promise which we will strive to fulfil over the next five years,” said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan during an appreciation dinner for Lambir constituency held at a leading hotel here.

Awang Tengah said GPS’ landslide victory in the just concluded 12th Sarawak election had proven that the rakyat wanted a stable government.

“The landslide victory showed that the rakyat put their thrust on GPS led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to bring Sarawak to greater progress,” he pointed out.

In the election, GPS won 76 seats out of 82 seats in the State Legislative Assembly.

In Lambir, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB)’s  Dr Ripin Lamat, retained the seat for GPS with a majority of 5,790 votes.
