KUCHING: The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) has been selected to host the Malaysia Conference of Parliamentary and Legislative Assembly Speakers next year.

The specific dates for the conference, however, have not been disclosed.

This announcement was made in a press release yesterday (Dec 17), coinciding with the visit of Sabah DUN Speaker Datuk Seri Panglima Kadzim M Yahya to Kuching on Saturday (Dec 16).

During his visit, Kadzim paid a courtesy call to Sarawak DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar at a hotel here.

The purpose of their meeting was to exchange ideas and strengthen ties between the legislative assemblies of Sabah and Sarawak.

In their discussions, Asfia showcased the state’s unique qualities and its rich cultural diversity to Kadzim.

Later that day, both Speakers attended the wedding reception of Sarawak DUN officer Mohd Zulkhairy Mohd Hajemi and his wife, Izan Jasmeen Mohamad Iswandie, at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall.
