SHANGHAI: Foreign investors in Sarawak must utilise high technologies, create a skilled workforce through transfer of technology and promote sustainable environment, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan here.
Awang Tengah, who is also International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) Minister, was leading a state delegation on an investment mission to China.
The delegation visited one of China’s major fibre glass manufacturers in Tionxiang Economy Development District, Zhejiang Province last Tuesday.
The company has expanded its operations to Egypt, USA and India.
Fibre glass has a huge global demand and is widely used in construction materials, electronic, electrical, chemical, metallurgy, environmental protection, defence industry, automotive, aerospace and marine industries.
Awang Tengah also took the opportunity to share with the management of the company, business and investment opportunities available in Sarawak. Accompanying him on the visit were his two assistant ministers Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and Datuk Malcom Mussen Lamoh, Mintred permanent secretary Datuk Liaw Soon Eng, Recoda chief executive officer Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, Mida Shanghai director and Mintred senior officials.
