Sarikei district declared red zone

KUCHING: Sarikei district was declared a Covid-19 red zone on Sunday (Apr 4) bringing to 11 districts in Sarawak now seeing red.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the declaration was made after 65 locally transmitted cases were recorded in the district within the past 14 days.

The other ten red zone districts are Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Julau, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu.

Uggah added that Marudi district also changed from yellow to orange after it recorded 23 locally transmitted cases on Sunday.

“Lawas district has changed its status from green to yellow after two locally transmitted cases were recorded today.

“There are only seven districts in the state which remain as green zone,” he said Sunday.

The two other orange districts in the state are Sri Aman and Kanowit while the other yellow districts are Bukit Mabong, Belaga, Betong, Lubok Antu, Tatau, Tanjung Manis, Song, Matu, Pakan, Subis, Tebedu, Bau, Mukah, Selangau, Limbang, Telang Usan, Saratok and Sebauh.
