SARIKEI: A food court here is set to become the third halal zone food premises after Kuching and Sibu.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) deputy director-general (entrepreneurship) Datuk Zulfikri Osman said it was important to increase customer confidence in the food served.

“Bazaar Food Court Sarikei will be a halal zone certified by the Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) and the Ministry of Health (MoH).
“Halal certification is important. Cleanliness of premises is also equally important.

“Therefore, we call on every agency involved as well as entrepreneurs, especially in Sarikei, to work together to ensure that this is realised,” he said at a press conference after completing a Walkabout Bazaar Food Court Sarikei programme on Friday (July 1).

“The bazaar has a beautiful design and is able to attract people to visit it,” he said, adding that it could also be a tourist attraction. “The location is strategic and it will become a new landmark in Sarikei.”
