Satok residents excited with business assistance

KUCHING: Local residents of Satok constituency were truly excited and heaved a sigh of relief when receiving assistance to expand their home-based business.

Speaking to New Sarawak Tribune, a barber Jamal Belia, 31, said with the assistance of salon equipment, he hoped that he could improve more in his business.

“With this I will also upgrade my services and generate more incomes to help my family.

“Because during COVID-19, I had to close my shop, stayed at home and could not continue with my business, which has truly affected my living,” he said when interviewed after the presentation of assistance for the programme to elevate the economy and wellbeing of eKasih households (uKasih) at Satok Sports Complex yesterday.

He also said that he received assistance such as salon equipment, salon chairs and also salon signboard.

“I hope everything will go smoothly for both of mine and wife business after this,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to tailor, Rohani Patrick Jitam @ Mohamad, 57, she was really happy to be selected for the assistance programme.

“Syukur Alhamdulilah, for all of this assistance which comprises sewing machine and sewing accessories that can assist me in my patchwork (tampung seribu).

“We must not give up and should continue to generate incomes for us to continue with our lives.

“I also hope I can do more patchwork according to my own ability as before this I only sew with hands but now with the machine, it would make my work easier,” she added.
