School problems discussed with Education director

KUCHING: Members of the Boards of Management of the Aided Chinese Primary Schools Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division Association recently paid a courtesy visit on the director of Education Sarawak, Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad.

According to its statement today, the delegation led by its president Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok paid the visit on Friday.

It stated that among the issues discussed during the meeting were the application for additional classes for special education at SJK Chung Hua No 1 Kuching, vacancies of headmasters and shortage of teachers in the member schools.

It added that Chai also raised the problems encountered in the applications of the maintenance grants.

“Other than that, we also raised the matter on the outstanding supply of activity books and workbooks for Mandarin, Mathematics and Science for the lower primary classes and the Bahasa Malaysia textbooks for Primary 6 in SJK Chung Hua in Sarawak,” he said.

Chai also reported on the progress of SJK Chung Hua Kai Nang which had been relocated from Sibu to Samarahan, building and relocation application for the pre-school classes of SJK Chung Hua Simunjan, SJKC Kiew Nang (Sibu) and relocation of SJK Bio Ing from Sibu to Lubok Antu.

The delegation included deputy president Rodger Chan Siong Boh, vice president Pemanca Chai Khiun Kian, secretary general Pui Wen Mei and treasurer Lim Ah Ted.

During the visit, Chan reported on matters related to Smart Classroom implementation in the schools.

He raised the technical problems relating to internet connectivity and bandwidth including intranet issues. He also mentioned relief teachers’ matters arising from special circumstances.
