KUCHING: A total of 309 primary school pupils from Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency benefit from the ‘School Uniform Aid 2017 Session’ programme.
Tupong State Assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman officiated at the programme organised by Yayasan Taqwa Wilayah Persekutuan in collaboration with Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya and Persatuan Pendidikan Pelajar-pelajar Islam Malaysia, at the Customs Academy Hall at Jalan Matang here yesterday.
According to the president of Persatuan Pendidikan Pelajar-pelajar Islam Malaysia, Mohd Adib Anas Mohd Nor, from the aid worth totalling RM46,000, each pupil received RM146.50.
He said that the organisers would also provide similar assistance to the primary school pupils in Kota Samarahan areas.
“I hope that this assistance can ease the burden of parents, especially those with more than one child in school.
“We also will hold a programme called 1Malaysia English Camp this year for the students in Petra Jaya constituency. We are still waiting for the green light from constituency’s Education Bureau and from the Member of Parliament himself,” revealed Mohd Adib.
He said that last year, they held similar programme in Batang Sadong and Batang Lupar parliamentary constituencies.
He disclosed that various education programmes had been held in Sarawak, namely, ‘Skor Pendidikan 1Malaysia’ (for SPM students), ‘Skuad Kecemerlangan Akademik’ (for STAM students), ‘1Malaysia English Camp’ and other school aid programmes.
He hoped that the foundation could help more students in other areas of Sarawak in the future.
