KUCHING: The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) is committed to ensuring that the community benefits from the digitalization brought about by the organization.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Sudarnoto Osman, stated that SDEC focuses on the private sector, particularly leading digital economy initiatives among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“We have MSMEs and SMEs. We want to help them operate their businesses through digitalization. Through this step, entrepreneurs will achieve better returns (income generation) in the future, making their business operations more efficient while producing high-quality products,” he said while officiating the first SDEC Media Appreciation Night at the Star on Stage yesterday (March 8).

He pointed out that SDEC had been galvanising all its efforts and work implementation for the benefit of the community to facilitate their lives.

“Our aim is to ensure that the public reaps the benefits,” he said succinctly.

During the function, Sudarnoto clarified that people often confuse the organization’s name.

“Hence, we want to emphasize that the pronunciation of this organization is S-DEC (es-dek), to avoid confusion with the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC),” he said.

About 100 media practitioners attended the inaugural media appreciation event organized by SDEC to strengthen the relationship between the organization and the media.
