Search for man who jumped from bridge ongoing

MIRI: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been mounted for an elderly man, who allegedly jumped from Lutong Bridge today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Fire Department (BOMBA) operation centre stated that they received a call about the incident at 2.15 pm, and a SAR operation involving personnel from Lutong BOMBA was initiated.

The department said that the incident was reported by members of the public who spotted the victim, whose identity is yet to be ascertained jumping off the bridge.

Also seen arriving at the scene were a team of police personnel from Lutong police station and medical personnel from Miri Hospital.

A brief check by New Sarawak Tribune at the scene showed that BOMBA has also deployed their rescue boat for the operation.

As at press time, the SAR operation to locate the missing man is still ongoing.
