SEB’s Aisah gets Asia’s top award

KUCHING: Sarawak Energy’s sustainability effort continues to build momentum and gain credibility in the international community when the energy development corporation and power utility was recently recognised by CSRWorks International, a leading organisation for
sustainability.

Sarawak Energy’s long-term strategies are guided by a vision to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity for Sarawak by meeting the region’s need for reliable, renewable energy.

Aisah Eden, Sarawak Energy’s recently retired executive vice-president for Corporate Services, was awarded Asia’s Top Sustainability Superwomen 2019 at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Summit 2019 held in Singapore recently.

The annual listing highlights exceptional female sustainability leaders in Asia. For 2019, a total of 126 nominations were received from 15 countries.

Aisah is Malaysia’s only recipient from the final 25 chosen for 2019 from across Asia. Other recipients included sustainability leaders from India, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore, in recognition for leading change through sustainability strategies and initiatives.

She received the award from Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) chief executive Timothy J. Mohin.

Aisah is known for her dedication and work in leading the commitment to and building the credentials of sustainability within the corporation and beyond.

Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili commended Aisah’s commitment and role in driving sustainability efforts within Sarawak Energy.

“Sarawak Energy is working towards embedding sustainability into the core of our projects and operations. Under Aisah’s leadership, we made great strides in building the systems, processes and ultimately, corporate acceptance necessary towards achieving this,” he explained.

Prior to her retirement, Aisah had served the company for 35 years in various capacities. During her most recent role in heading Corporate Services, Aisah’s leadership was key in driving Sarawak Energy’s sustainability agenda and aligning the corporation’s sustainability reporting initiative with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
