SIBU: Keeping Selangau clean rests on the shoulders of everyone and not just the Sibu Rural District Council’s (SRDC), Senator Rita Sarimah Patrick Insol has reminded.

he officiated the Selangau Bazaar Landscape Beautification Programme with the Community with SRDC, on yesterday (June 17), and reiterated that “all parties, including the public, should always keep Selangau beautiful and clean.”

“It can be an attraction, especially for Pan Borneo Highway users.

“There are various draws here, including the products sold at Tamu Selangau, and the various local food available,” she explained.

“A small town like Selangau should not be left behind. Make it a tourist attraction and this will improve the economy of the population, not just those who own shops, but those who sell agricultural products.”

She was also pleased with the development plan in Selangau, including the construction of guest rooms and the road to the new district office.

Earlier, SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said a total of 30 Bucida trees donated by Am Corp had been planted during the programme.
“This programme is the initial stage and it will continue and we hope for cooperation from all parties.”
