Several roads statewide closed for Nov 5 nomination day

KUCHING: Sarawak police will close off several roads to ensure the nomination process for the 15th general election (GE15) goes smoothly.

Sarawak Commissioner of Police, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri revealed this during a press conference, saying the roads in 14 parliamentary constituencies would be closed off on Nov 5.

“In Limbang, Jalan Penyiaran will be closed off as the nomination process is at Dewan Suarah Limbang.

“For Serian, we will close off Jalan Tangga By-Pass. The nomination will take place at Sarawak Federal Administration Centre, Serian Division.

“Jalan Lee Khoi Chun will be closed as the nomination process will be at Dewan Suarah Bau for Mas Gading, while Jalan Kampung Tanjung Bundong, in front of Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan where the nomination process takes place for Kota Samarahan, will be closed.”

In Batang Lupar, Jalan Resak towards Jalan Main Bazaar will be closed for the nomination process at Sri Aman District Office.

In Saratok, Jalan Ong Ho San, Jalan Pembangunan and Jalan Abu Talip will also be closed as the nomination process takes place at Dewan Masyarakat Sri Krian.

Jalan Kemahiran in Santubong, Jalan Duranta in Petra Jaya and Jalan Padungan and Jalan Tan Sri Datuk William Tan (both junctions towards MBKS) in Bandar Kuching will be closed.

In Sarikei, Jalan Sentra/Jalan Repok, Jalan Wharf/Jalan Market, Jalan Sentral (behind Sibu Central Police station), Jalan Nyelong/Jalan Repok, Jalan Nyelong (next to TM) near Jalan Berek entrance junction and Jalan Getah (behind MDS) will be closed as well.

The nomination process will take place at Dewan Suarah Sarikei.

“For Puncak Borneo, as the nomination process takes place at Siburan District Office, Jalan Kampung Siburan, in front of the district office on both lane, will be closed.

“Jalan Kuala Baram By Pass (towards Permyjaya), starting from Jalan Ilmu to Jalan Tudan junction will also be closed for the nomination process at Dewan Interim, ILP Miri in Miri parliamentary constituency.”

In Lawas, the nomination process is at Lawas District Council and roads on KM1 Jalan Trusan Bypass will be closed.

As for Kanowit, Azman said Jalan Kanowit-Durin would be closed for the nomination process at Kanowit District Office.
