SIBU: The upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) will present SUPP the opportunity to wrest the Sibu and Lanang parliamentary seats back from the opposition.

GE15 will therefore be an important mission for the party, said its Pelawan Branch Chairman Clarence Ting.

“The next election is SUPP’s  mission to recapture the Sibu and Lanang parliamentary seats after we managed to defeat DAP strongholds in the Bukit Assek and Pelawan constituencies in the last state election,” he added.

Towards this end he urged party members to prepare their respective machinery.

Speaking at the the SUPP Flag Raising Ceremony in conjunction with the party’s 63rd Anniversary celebration here today (Saturday), he called on members here to remain united and continue serving the people.

Ting said unity within the party is very important for the party to remain relevant.

In terms of serving the people, Ting urged members to maintain the party’s good name so that the people continue to trust SUPP.

He also reminded party members to learn from past events that had led to conflicts which in turn had weakened the party.

“To remain relevant, understanding, tolerance as well as consideration are the keys to strengthening the party to remain so forever,” he said.

He called on party members who have been entrusted with certain positions to continue contributing to the development of Sibu.

This, he stressed, will make Sibu better in the future as it moves towards city status in 2031.

“Let us together contribute towards a better Sibu with sweat in terms of development, ideas, energy and time,” he said.

The ceremony was also attended by SUPP members from five branches here, namely Pelawan, Dudong, Bukit Assek, Nangka and Bawang Assan.
