SIBU: Niah Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) celebrated its 19th anniversary dinner over the weekend.

The branch also held pre-Gawai and fundraising activities during the dinner officiated by Utilities Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

In his speech, he highlighted several utilities projects for the area.

Dr Rundi also stressed the importance of Dayak women in various fields.

“SIDS can play a role by mentoring, training and building up our women in various fields of leadership and entrepreneurship, among others.”

He added that under the new leadership of SIDS chairperson Dato Ir Alice Jawan Empaling, who is also the Permanent Secretary of Utilities Ministry, he expected to see SIDS move forward.

The function was also attended by Women, Family and Children Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus and Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi.
