KUCHING: Sarawak has always emphasised on an all-encompassing progress, not only in terms of financial prosperity but also social harmony, mutual understanding and respect.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this is crucial because, as Sarawak moves towards 2030, everyone in the state should continue to develop on all fronts.

He said this when attending the Dharma Gondesan Malaysia Gathering in conjunction with Buddha’s birthday at a hotel here today (June 3).

“We are very grateful that Sami Buddha from Taiwan, Master Guan Ju, has returned to Sarawak after four years.

“According to him, all these special prayers are not only for the Buddha but also to guide us on how to conduct ourselves in a respectful and proper manner for the prosperity of the entire country.

“We are extremely thankful to have the local organiser, the Sarawak Branch of the Malaysian Buddhist Association, together with us to listen to the explanations and teachings of Master Guan Ju, which are in line with the development of Sarawak and its future,” he said.
