KUCHING: Minister of Natural and Environment Resource, Dato’s Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar presented a RM4,000 contribution to six families affected in a fire in Kampung Muara Tebas, yesterday.
Two of the families whose houses were destroyed in the fire at around 3.40pm on 1 July received RM1,000 each while the rest received RM500 each.
Junaidi reminded villagers to install proper and safe wiring to avoid untoward incident such as short-circuit and fire.
“Make sure the electrical items have Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) logo,” he added.
He said parents should monitor their children’s activities around their house and keep them away from flammable items.
