Six months in prison for theft

KUCHING: A local man was sentenced to six months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here today (July 26) for stealing six gas cylinders in a break-in at an eatery at 6th Mile, Jalan Penrissen, on July 6.

Lee Kok Hui, 34, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

He and another two men still at large were accused of breaking into an eatery and stealing six gas cylinders belonging to a 30-year-old restaurant owner.

The owner reported a loss of RM1,200 as a result.

Meanwhile, in the same court, Lee was also handed a fine of RM3,000 or three months in prison for being involved in drug abuse activities last year.

He was charged with injecting amphetamine and methamphetamine into himself.

The prosecution of both cases was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while Lee was not represented by a lawyer.
