SMK Kabong gets RM50k grant from rep

KABONG: Kabong State Assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir announced a grant of RM50,000 to SMK Kabong for the empowerment and development of the school.

Chee made the announcement when officiating at the Annual General Meeting of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) 2016/2017 and Presentation of SPM 2016 Excellent Students Slips at the school here yesterday.

In his speech he pointed out that education plays an important role in economic development and the nation development to achieve the government’s aspiration to make Malaysia a 100 per cent developed nation.

Chee said that efforts were made to ensure that education would continue to grow in order to compete globally.

“The government always ensures education in our country is changing more actively and that is why it is called the transformation so that our human capital will have the knowledge and become highly skilled.

“For example SMK Kabong, the sole secondary school in this entire area, is an asset that needs to be maintained as best as possible. This is to ensure it continues to function well in shaping the personality and providing knowledge to students,” he said.

Therefore, when the students grow up, they can upgrade their economic standing benefitting themselves, their families, community and country, the people’s representative pointed out.

“With that, there are some aspirations that we need to accomplish so that our children can become quality individuals,” he said at the ceremony.

Efforts to transform education so that the country can compete globally requires efforts from all parties, he stressed, adding the parents should continue to be the key to the success of their children in school.

Parents, he said, should not rely fully on the school in educating the children.

“Our children are our trust that we need to monitor and pay attention to in order to ensure their success in education and life.

“So as such, be responsible parents and always care for the welfare of your children,” he added.

Chee also said he will make the efforts to add value to the tourism sector in Kabong.

“This effort will be intensified from time to time to improve the economic status and income of the community.
