BOMBA CADET COMPETITION

SIBURAN: SMK Serian will represent schools under the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 2 in a state level Bomba cadets’ competition.

The competition will be held at Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station on March 9. 

The SMK Serian cadet squad was crowned champion after emerging first in five out of six categories at the zone-level competition held at Siburan Fire and Rescue Station yesterday.

The school won in the ‘Kawad Operasi Berhalangan’ in both male and female categories, Aspec Challenges in male and female categories, as well as the Knots and Ties category. SMK Serian also took the second place in the Bomba quiz category.

Schools which participated in the competition included SMK Sadong Hilir, Semera which won second place; SMK Penrissen (third place); SMK Kota Samarahan (fourth place) and SMK Simunjan No 1 in fifth place.

According to SMK Serian’s Bomba cadets advising teacher Zachary Nyabe, the time spent practising and training the squad was worthwhile as students were able to seize the championship trophy of the competition.

“We will continue with our current training programmes in preparation for the upcoming state-level competition.

“Today (Feb 26), our squad showed great standard and performance throughout the competition. They are very committed in giving their best,” he said when met by reporters yesterday.

SMK Serian was also the champion of zone-level competition last year.

Bomba Zone 2 chief Azman Julaihi officiated at the closing ceremony of the competition.
