Soldier among two injured in collision

Date:

KUCHING: A soldier was among two motorcyclists who were injured in a road collision at Jalan Lapangan Terbang on Friday (May 22).

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident, which occurred at 1.45pm, involved a truck and two motorcycles.

“The truck was heading towards Batu 4, and later collided into two incoming motorcycles on the opposing lane.

“Investigations revealed that the cause of the accident was due to negligence as the truck driver lost control and collided with the motorcycles in the opposite direction.

“Both motorcyclists who suffered injuries were sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment while the truck driver was unharmed,” he said in a statement.

One of the motorcyclists, who is a soldier from Penrissen Camp, Batu 8 suffered minor injuries to his right shoulder. It is not known what injuries the other motorcyclist sustained.

Alexson added that the case was being investigated under Rule 10 LN166/59.

In another case at Batu 6, a four-wheel drive (4WD) crashed into another vehicle while reversing from a parking space at Jalan Liu Shan Ban 1, Kota Sentosa.

Alexson said that the accident, which occurred at 3pm, involved two drivers who were not harmed from the collision.

“The 43-year-old driver was reversing his vehicle and suddenly crashed into another vehicle who was heading forward,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Rule 17(c) LN 166/59.
