KUCHING: The Bintulu National Registration Department (JPN) office in Bintulu is unable to accept MyKid applications because it does not have a machine to print the chip-embedded identity card for children under the age of 12 years.

Nevertheless, the department said it accepted the concerns, remarks and suggestions of Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

“Only four JPN branches in Sarawak have a MyKid printing machine which is IP JPN Kuching, JPN UTC Sarawak branch, Kuching, JPN UTC Sibu branch and JPN UTC Miri branch,” it said in a statement yesterday (April 18).

The department said that effective yesterday (April 18), MyKid applications would also be accepted at all JPN offices. Applications for new birth registration, adoption application, first-time application for MyKid or citizenship certificate or status verification certificate application would also be accepted by the offices statewide.

“The process of printing the MyKid card will be sent to and handled by JPN headquarters in Putrajaya.
