MIRI: A calligraphy competition on writing Spring Festival Couplets will be held here on Dec 31.

The event which is open to primary and secondary students and also features an open category offers the Dato Sri Dr Lee Kim Shin challenge trophy.

It is being organised by the Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations Sarawak and will commence at 9am at the auditorium of the Riam Road Secondary School.

Co-organised by the Riam Road Secondary School Calligraphy Society, the purpose of this competition is to promote traditional Chinese culture, create a joyous atmosphere for the Spring Festival and also to improve the art of calligraphy.

The deadline for registration is on Dec 9.
