SIBU: Sarawakians are aggrieved by the Budget 2020. Sarawak and Sabah were supposed to receive 30 per cent of the total development budget as stated in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto during the 14th General Election (GE14), said Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira.

Unfortunately, only 16.3 per cent were given to the two states ― RM5.2 billion (Sabah) and RM4.4 billion (Sarawak).

“This is only 16.3 per cent or RM9.6 billion out of the total development budget of RM56 billion.

“Sarawak, being almost as big as Malaya received less compared to Sabah. Sarawak needs a huge fund in every development aspect to catch up with other states,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He said the fund is needed for construction of urban and rural roads, electricity and water supplies, to upgrade and improve condition in schools and many more.
