KUCHING: Sarawak is still in a discussion with the federal government on education autonomy as part of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Ghazali mentioned that a series of meetings had been organised alongside a special meeting held by the Prime Minister and Premier of Sarawak.

“The decision has not been made and we are indeed in the middle of a very eventful discussion. We will however, keep on fighting for it,” she said after distributing bubur lambuk in conjunction with the “Pemadam Care For You, Jauhi Dadah, Hidup Penuh Erti” organised by Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) Sarawak on Thursday (April 7).

When was asked about the expected date, she did not mention when would that be as more conversations and meetings would take place sometime next week and would be on continuously.

“Actually, there are a lot of things we were able to get back, therefore such matters like this that have not been done, we will continue to solve it as soon as possible.”

However, she said that discussion was not easy as more things would be discussed, but talks would continue.

When asked what other rights Sarawak would get, she said there were more they wanted to get, including the Inland Revenue Board matter as mentioned by the Premier.

“There are a whole lot more we are fighting for, including our healthcare, tourism rights and others. We will keep on fighting.”
