KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library to virtually host Sarawakiana Festival from Sept 1 to Sept 30 this year.

The library in its statement on Thursday (Aug 26) announced that the festival’s theme this year would be ‘Daun’ (leaves) to depict the importance of local leaves especially among the ethnic groups in Sarawak.

“The uniqueness of art and culture, history, custom and traditions will be highlighted in this festival through various interesting activities or programmes such as virtual exhibitions on the unique leaves found in Sarawak, talks and others,” it said.

The information and knowledge garnered from the festival would be documented such that it could be practised and preserved for sustainability of the future generations.

The state library also said that this will be the first time that the festival be held virtually, implementing the new norms in every activity planned.

“The public is invited to join the various exciting virtual activities via the Sarawak State Library official Facebook (pustaka.sarawak), Instagram (@pustakaswk) and Pustaka Negeri Sarawak YouTube channel,” it said.
