The 18th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on its second day of sitting observed a moment of silence in honour of the late former Kedup assemblyman Datuk Frederick Bayoi Manggie, who passed away on Sept 21.

DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar introduced the brief moment prior to the commencement of the morning session of the DUN sitting on Tuesday (Nov 10).

All elected representatives present stood at their respective seats in silence for a minute in memory of Bayoi.

Bayoi, 77, was a five-term assemblyman, having served as Tarat assemblyman for two terms and then Kedup assemblyman for three terms.

He was a member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) for 33 years before resigning from the party in 2016 to contest as an independent candidate in Bukit Semuja, but he lost to Barisan Nasional (BN) direct candidate, John Ilus.
