KUCHING: Bau police managed to recover a 4WD vehicle within hours after it was reported stolen from a housing estate at Riveria, Kota Samarahan on Wednesday evening.
Two policemen were on their patrol rounds at Simpang Padang Pan yesterday morning when they saw the driver of a 4WD vehicle behaving suspiciously.
They then gave chase while the driver left the vehicle by the roadside as he fled the scene.
After a check, police discovered that the vehicle’s steering wheel had been tampered with and there was no ignition key to start the vehicle.
The vehicle was later towed to Bau police station.
After further checks police found out that the vehicle owner had lodged a report at Kota Samarahan police station claiming that his Mitsubishi Pajero (4WD vehicle) was stolen a few hours earlier.
Bau police chief, DSP Poge Nyaon confirmed the case.
