STOP shopping and try organising a clothing swap party with friends for a change.

We all know we could be leading a more sustainable life by wearing our clothes for longer, rather than hitting the shops every season. But how else are you to satisfy your relentless desire for something new in your wardrobe? Try organising a clothing swap party with friends for a change.

THERE’S basically just one rule to a clothing swap party: Every person brings a few items with them.

Each person brings between five and ten items to swap. It helps if people are roughly the same size — otherwise you can only really swap accessories. It’s best to bring things that you haven’t worn, or have hardly wore at all, over the past year.

Things will also be more likely to find a new home if they are clean and in good condition. One more tip: Don’t start swapping till everyone gets there, otherwise some people might feel cheated. – dpa
