SIBU: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol encourages students to consider internships within state government agencies, with a special invitation extended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Speaking at a breaking of fast ceremony with the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Abdullah highlighted the opportunity for students to gain practical experience while understanding government operations.

He said students have the flexibility to explore various departments and revealed allowances ranging from RM500 to RM800 for practical experience.

“We want to invite students from universities, if anyone is interested in having his or her internship with any government agency, either in UKAS if your studies are related to media, or if in engineering, perhaps JKR and more.

“While you learn (through your internship) in the agency, at the same time, you will understand how the government works,” he said.

The event, aimed at fostering ties and introducing UKAS to the local community, was attended by 270 media practitioners, students, lecturers, and government officials including Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee and Sibu Resident Datuk Wong Hee Sieng.
