SU PP Youth holds two-hour dialogue with MCA Youth

KUCHING: The newly elected team of SUPP Youth led by its chairman Michael Tiang made a courtesy visit on MCA Youth in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 8. They were warmly welcomed by MCA Youth chairman Senator Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who is also the Deputy Minister of Education. During the visit, a two-hour dialogue session was held among the two BN Youth leaders.

The discussion centred on a wide range of issues such as the current strength of the nation’s economy including GDP, foreign investments, ringgit currency, DFTZ (digital free trade zone), job opportunities for the youth, youth entrepreneurship, education and other topics of concern. SUPP Youth leaders also briefed their MCA counterparts on Sarawak autonomous rights under the Federal Constitution, Malaysia Agreement 1963, unconstitutional erosion of Sarawakians’ rights through several Acts of Parliament such as the Petroleum Act 1974 and the Sea Territorial Act 2012.

Many issues affecting Sarawak were shared between the two parties, such as the new and bold policies under the leadership of Abang Jo, the establishment of DBOS (Development Bank of Sarawak) and PETROS (Petroleum Sarawak Berhad), the drive towards a digital economy, the Sarawak Pay System and e-commerce platform, high speed and wide Internet coverage throughout Sarawak and the proposed LRT (Light Rail Transit).

The MCA Youth members present during the dialogue session were Datuk Chong Sin Woon (chairman), Datuk Leong Kim Soon (secretary- general), Nicole Wong and Tan Kok Eng (vice chairmen), Tee Hooi Ling (deputy secretary-general) and Chan Wun Hoong (committee member).

SUPP Youth was represented by Michael Tiang (chairman), Milton Foo (secretary-general) Andrew Victor and Alex Chu (deputy chairmen), Andrew Wong (treasurer) Tang Kieh Ming and Goh Tze Hui (vice chairmen) Tang Siong Chun (deputy secretary-general) Shim Poh Szu (training secretary) and Alvin Chong (assistant publicity chief ).
