SARATOK: The three-day Kalaka Regatta came to a thrilling close on Sunday (July 30), with more than 5,000 visitors enlivening the evening activities throughout the event.

The main stage witnessed the enthralling performance of renowned artist Haqiem Rusli while local singers added to the vibrant atmosphere.

The highlight of the final night was the bermukun event and bertandak competition. Spectators eagerly gathered at the stage from 7pm, eager not to miss the opportunity to witness the mesmerising drum play of Dayang Azura.

The bertandak competition saw a dominant performance from a group hailing from Kabong, with their dance moves synchronised to the beat of the drum, leaving the audience in awe. They claimed the first prize of RM500.

Warisan Bersatu Group secured the second spot with a prize of RM400. The third prize of RM300 went to the Tandak Warisan Group, also from Kabong. The prizes were presented by Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.

Mohamad expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to the event, with the site filled with visitors every night, especially during the last three days.
