BINTULU: The Sungai Sebiew Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) should be used as a centre for learning modern agricultural methods that will benefit farmers, especially those from around here.

Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said farmers interested in learning modern farming methods, especially fertigation systems, are encouraged to visit Sungai Sebiew ATC and participate in educational tours and training guided by experts.

He also expressed hope that the training centre can attract the younger generation to venture into modern farming.

Dr Rundi made these remarks when officiating at the Proof of Concept: First Harvesting Modern Farming programme held at the centre recently.

He also witnessed the first harvest of golden melon and parsley using fertigation methods with Rain Protection Structure (SPH) at Sungai Sebiew ATC.

The project was undertaken by Hing & Chan Enterprise Sdn Bhd, a member of the Bintulu Farmers’ Organisation (PPK).
