SUPP Bintulu celebrates International Women’s Day giving out roses

BINTULU: Sarawak United People’s Party Women’s Movement (SUPP) Bintulu showcases their appreciation for the sacrifices and achievements of women by giving 100 roses and cupcakes to traders and female visitors at Pasar Utama Bintulu (PUB) today.

The initiatives were made in conjunction with International Women’s Day celebrated annually on March 8.

“The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Wanita Dijulang, Gemilang Negara’, in line with the continued contribution of women in various fields despite facing the challenges of today,” said Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming, when met after handing out the gifts.

Johnny distributes bouquets of roses and cupcakes to traders and female visitors at Bintulu Main Market.

He applauded the commitment and tenacity of women in facing the challenges in life, adding they were a great inspiration for all.

“Women are contributors to the progress of the country, the development of family institutions and to appreciate women in various fields we chose this location and flowers as a symbol of their personality,” he said.

He is also hopeful that women in general, would be able to think clearly and plan carefully for the own future as well as of their children and next generations.

Pang, who is also the chairman of SUPP Bintulu Branch reached out to other government and non-governmental organization to continue playing a proactive role to fight for women’s rights whose fate is increasingly exposed to unsurmountable risks and threats in today’s crime.
