Suspected drug peddlers nabbed

SERIAN: Narcotics police here arrested two local men for allegedly possessing drugs believed to be methamphetamine on Saturday (Mar 12).

Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis, said the drugs weighing 12.84g and stored inside 22 straw tubes and 12 plastic packets, were seized as evidence.

He said a raid was carried out at an unnumbered house in Kampung Tarat Melawi where, a 29-year-old man was detained for inspection.

The police team managed to find three plastic packets containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing about 2.47g.

“Following that, the team raided another house in Kampung Tarat Mawang where a 20-year-old man was believed to be engaging in drug activity.

“Policemen had to force open the door to the house as the suspect refused to open it.

“Inspections led to the seizure of 22 straw tubes and nine plastic packets containing drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing about 10.47g,” he said.

Aswandy pointed out that the drugs with a street value of RM1,200, were believed to be for distribution to users around Serian and nearby villages.

Both the suspects and the drugs were brought to the Serian NCID office for further action.

The suspects who tested positive for drugs, are being investigated under Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He urged the community to always channel information on drugs activities in their area to the police for further action.
