KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak will introduce new programmes in conjunction with its open days on June 11 and 18.
SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level, and UEC students are invited to learn more about the new Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Software, Bachelor of Quantity Surveying, and Diploma of
Accountancy programmes.
According to the statement, the public will have the opportunity to discover more about affordable and high-quality Australian tertiary education closer to home.
“It is a great opportunity for those who are ready to take the next step in their education journey to obtain first-hand information on scholarships, financial assistance and campus facilities.
“Students interested in furthering their education can meet with academic staff and education counsellors to learn more about courses, scholarships, financial aid and housing,” it added.
Furthermore, it is stated that external financial aid providers such as Yayasan Sarawak and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) will also be on hand to provide
guidance and advice.
“To help students and families afford their education, Swinburne Sarawak offers a number of scholarships for foundation, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes.
“Among them is the Pro-Chancellor Excellence Full Scholarship, whereby top-performing students who enrol in an undergraduate programme could enjoy up to 100 per cent fee waiver.
“Financial aid options include the DVC Academic Excellence Scholarship, UEC Academic Excellence Scholarship, Academic Progression Scholarship, Emerging Technology Award, and
Alumni Bursary Award, among others,” the university said.
The institution went on to state that in partnership with Yayasan Sarawak, the Yayasan Sarawak BP40 Bursary Scheme will be offered, which entitles Sarawakian Bumiputera students to a
special scheme.
“This allows individuals to enrol in their selected foundation, diploma, or degree programmes with subsidised tuition prices that are comparable to those of a public institution (IPTA).”
Moreover, students who are awarded the plan may apply for a Yayasan Sarawak loan to cover their remaining fees and receive a 75 per cent tuition reimbursement upon graduation.
“Students will also be entitled to a RM4,000 annual living allowance for the duration of their studies.”
According to Swinburne, it is also offering its Study Now Pay Later (SNPL) scheme to incoming domestic students, allowing them to adjust to university life without making a large financial commitment up front.
“Students can choose between six weeks of free trial sessions and an interest-free easy payment plan comprising instalment payments, or two weeks of trial classes and a full-term
payment plan,” it said.
To facilitate the on-the-spot application, students are advised to prepare relevant documents in PDF form saved in a USB.
“Their identification card (for Malaysian students) or passport (for overseas students), academic transcripts and certifications, and English language proficiency test results (MUET, IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent qualification) should all be included in the document.
“For those attending the open day on Saturday (June 11) before SPM results are released, the university will accept forecasts or school results.
“Meanwhile, those attending the open day on June 18 can bring along their SPM result slips for on-the-spot application.”
Furthermore, eligible students applying for admission will receive a letter of offer on the same day.

In addition, from June 19 to July 10, Swinburne Sarawak will be holding extended counselling hours over the weekends from 10 am to 4 pm on campus, in addition to its existing weekday
counselling hours from 10 am to 5pm.
“Online counselling on demand is also available from Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm.”
