BINTULU: The 2023 Bintulu Golf Club Junior Invitational Golf Tournament was a thrilling two-day event that showcased the talent of young golfers from across the region.
Dynneva Joyce Donni from Kota Kinabalu Golf Club emerged as the overall champion of the Girls’ Junior category, while Koo Zheng Xi from Miri Golf Club clinched the title in the Boys’ Junior category.
Donni impressed the spectators with her skill and poise on the course, recording a total of 173 strokes to claim the cash prize and trophy.
Meanwhile, Zheng Xi put on a masterclass of golfing prowess, successfully making 158 strokes to secure the title and the accompanying cash prize and trophy.
The tournament featured 73 participants from nine different clubs, including Bintulu Golf Club, Sarawak Golf Club, Miri Golf Club, Sibu Golf Club, Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club, Kota Kinabalu Golf Club, Sabah Golf and Country Club, Kudat Golf Club, and Keningau Golf and Country Club.
The players battled it out on the course in pursuit of victory.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Deputy President of the Sarawak Golf Association, Anthony Tan, Captain of Bintulu Golf Club Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah, and the Honorary Secretary of Bintulu Golf Club.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming presented the prizes to the winners, hailing the competitors for their excellent performance and congratulating them on their well-deserved victories.
The Bintulu Golf Club Junior Invitational Golf Tournament was a resounding success, highlighting the immense potential of young golfers in Malaysia. With such impressive performances on display, the future of golf in Malaysia looks bright.
