SIBU: The Rabies Vaccination Programme and Rabies Awareness Talk, organised by the Sibu Chinese Community Leaders Association, play a vital role in raising public awareness about the dangers of the disease.

Its Chairman, Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau, said that rabies is a deadly disease that not only threatens pets but also human lives.

“However, by consistently vaccinating our pets, we can effectively mitigate this threat. Today, the Sibu Veterinary Department is offering free rabies vaccinations to all Sibu residents to ensure the best protection for their pets.

“I encourage everyone to actively participate in this event and collaborate for the safety of our community, ensuring that our pets and family members are safeguarded from this dreadful disease,” he said at the programme held at SMK Tung Hua on today (Oct 21).

Lau said through the programme, officials from the State Health Department and the Sibu Veterinary Department will provide crucial information about rabies, including its symptoms, prevention measures, and how to handle situations involving animal bites, scratches, or contact with animal saliva and bodily fluids.
