MIRI: The Taste of Borneo Miri may soon feature on the official tourism calendar, as it’s being earmarked as a signature event for Sarawak’s northern region.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, has suggested that the event be added to both national and state tourism calendars.

“The legacy that you have built is worthy of continuation. I hope the Taste of Borneo Organising Committee will consider carrying this initiative forward,” he said during the event’s closing ceremony on Sunday night at Miri Indoor stadium.

The speech was read by Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, who is also the Pujut assemblyman.

He further noted that the city has been enlivened by a rich display of cultures throughout these 10 vibrant days, making the city more dynamic than ever.

Ting reiterated that his ministry has consistently supported the event to bolster Miri’s reputation as a tourist destination in northern Sarawak, which showcases the varied diversity of sub-ethnic groups in the area.
