MIRI: A 14-year-old dropout was detained by the police barely two hours after he robbed a housewife and her nephew in Tudan. The juvenile was detained at Tudan Phase 2, Lorong Mulia 4 around 12.15am yesterday.

Several residents within the area performed a citizen’s arrest and the suspect was later on handed over to the police for further investigation. Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted yesterday, confirmed the arrest. The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

Prior to the robbery, around 10.22pm on Wednesday, the 25-year-old victim and her nephew were passing by a dumping ground nearby a supermarket complex in Tudan when they stopped to give the suspect a lift out of pity.

The victims gave the suspect the lift despite having to accommodate him on their motorcycle.

On the way to Tudan Phase 4, the suspect took out a sharp object, believed to be a knife, and pointed it at the housewife, who was the rider.
