Teenager succumbs to injuries after motorcycle rear ended by pickup

PADAWAN: A teenage boy succumbed to his injuries after his motorcycle was rear ended by a pickup truck along Jalan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wee Boon Ping this morning (Dec 4).

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement, said the accident happened at the traffic light intersection around 12.45am.

Investigation found that the victim who was riding his motorcycle alone, was making a U-turn at the traffic light when he was rear ended by a pickup truck heading towards Batu Kawa.

“The impact caused the victim to be thrown onto the road and he sustained injuries.

“The victim was later rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate treatment,” he said.

However, the victim identified as Ronaldy Robster Michael Belet, 16, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old pickup truck driver did not sustain any injuries in the accident.

Abang Zainal stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
