The next big immersive summer installation slated to fill the National Building Museum in Washington DC has been entrusted to the Rockwell Group with its yet-to-be-revealed exhibit “The Lawn.”

For the sixth consecutive year, the museum will be presenting its Summer Block Party installation, which has taken the form of interactive, family-friendly creations such as last year’s “Fun House” by Snarkitecture, “Hive” by Studio Gang, “ICEBERGS” by James Corner Field Operations, “The BEACH” by Snarkitecture and the “BIG Maze” by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG).

Rockwell Group has named its installation “The Lawn,” and while its design has yet to be revealed, the architecture and design firm has a strong history with the National Building Museum: its 2012 show “PLAY WORK BUILD,” which explored the connections between play, design and the work of building professionals, was the museum’s highest-attended exhibition to date.

Like its predecessors, “The Lawn” promises to be an immersive installation taking up the entirety of the Museum’s Great Hall and offering interactive experiences for all ages.
