SIMANGGANG: The Pesta Benak or Tidal Bore Festival here is back this year from Sept 9 to 11, with the highlight being the regatta.

“After a two-year lapse (due to the pandemic and the ensuing movement control), the event has been missed by many.

“Today’s meeting decided that Pesta Benak will return, for three days this September,” said Deputy Minister II for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

The Simanggang assemblyman said this during the committee meeting for the festival at the Sri Aman Division Resident’s Office here on Wednesday (April 20).

He stated that various activities were planned such as exhibitions, bazaars and cultural shows.

“We will also continue the Ratu Benak competition and the Kebaya Nyonya competition as well as some other side events.

“What is more interesting is it will be held at the newly completed Sri Aman waterfront.

“It has a fairground area, a cultural centre with 14 shop lots.
