KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Uptown Traders Association of Kota Samarahan (PPUKAS) has received a funding of RM30,000 to initiate business operations during the fasting month of Ramadan.

The allocation by Dato Idris Buang, the Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), is also meant for the association’s management and members’ welfare, particularly the merchants at Desa Ilmu’s Ramadan Bazaar.

According to him, the Ramadan bazaar provides as many as 100 sales sites that feature a variety of cuisine throughout this month.

“Therefore, it is hoped that this small aid can help the association carry out business activities that are necessarily the focus of the public and also increase the economy of traders during the month of Ramadan,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Ilmu Desa Ramadan Bazaar organised by PPUKAS here, on Tuesday.

At the same time, the Muara Tuang assemblyman also praised the efforts of PPUKAS in providing a place of worship to perform prayers at the bazaar site.

“A place of worship that can accommodate as many as 50 Muslims at one time can make it easier for traders and customers to pray,” said Idris who is also the patron of the association.

Also present were Deputy Resident of Samarahan Division Anuar Da’an, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council Chairman (MPKS) Datuk Peter Minos, Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, Samarahan District Police Chief Jaimi Husin and PPUKAS Chairman Sarbini Johari.
