MUKAH: Narcotic police here arrested two brothers on suspicion of engaging in substance abuse in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Tapis’ recently.

The plastic packet containing drugs believed to be syabu, is found inside a black bag.

In a statement, Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the raid was carried out towards a house in Kampung Penakub Ulu at 2.50pm.

Inspections found nothing illegal on the men but later the police managed to find a plastic packet containing drugs believed to be syabu, inside a black bag in their possession.

“The drugs weighing 5.20g with a street value of RM520 were seized as evidence.

“Both the suspects and the drugs were taken to Mukah narcotic police office for further action,” he said.

Background checks found that the brothers aged 29 and 35, had several past records. They were also tested positive for drugs.

Rizal added that both suspects, a labourer and an unemployed, are believed to have been involved in substance abuse since early 2021.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
