SIBU: Two youths were arrested during the ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ which was conducted at Jalan Awang Ramli Amit and Dataran Sibu here last night.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that the two youths, both male aged 16 and 27, are being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The operation from 9pm to 2am was carried out by a police team from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD),” he said in a statement today.
Zulkipli noted that various summonses were issued during the operation for offences including not possessing driver’s license, modified exhaust, not displaying plate number, not installing side mirror, vehicle not covered by insurance and incomplete accessories.
“The police advise the public to obey the traffic laws. Parents are also advised to monitor their children’s activities so that they do not get involved in illegal activities,” he said.
