UNIFOR funds seven religious groups

PADAWAN: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has provided RM880,000 to support seven different religious institutions in the Mambong area.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil said that UNIFOR is unique to Sarawak and is specifically established to offer financial assistance to religions other than Islam.

Dr. Jerip emphasised that it’s important for the funds received from UNIFOR to be used wisely, following the guidelines outlined in the application submitted to the organisation.

He said this during the UNIFOR 2023 cheque presentation event today (Aug 25).

Dr. Jerip, who is also the Mambong assemblyman, handed out cheques to the committee members representing the seven religious institutions.

The recipients of the funds include:
Kampung Braang Sigandar SDA Church: RM120,000
Saint George’s Chapel Church: RM150,000
Saint Michael’s Church: RM140,000
Meyer Spring SDA Church: RM150,000
Kampung Braang Payang SDA Church: RM120,000
Saint Luke Evangelist: RM150,000
Saint Mark’s Church: RM50,000
