Ngenang was the first to be appointed as director of Unifor which was set up in April 2017, alongside with Uggah who is also the minister-in-charge of the unit which aims is to assist all non-Islamic religions in the state and is in line with the state government’s inclusiveness policy.

The unit was the brainchild of the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem and is now continued and strongly supported by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Uggah in his Christmas message last year said that the state government will allocate RM50 million for Unifor this year to develop, repair, or renovate houses of worship in the state.
