Unifor gives RM260K in financial aid

MIRI: Two non-Islamic houses of worship in Miri received assistance totalling RM260,000 from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) yesterday.

The cheques were presented by for Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting who is also Piasau assemblyman.

The first cheque worth RM200,000 was presented to Gurdwara Sahib Miri, while the second cheque valued at RM60,000 to Taosim Lian San San Ching Miri.

Ting when met later said the financial initiative was part of the state government’s continuing effort to help all religions in Sarawak and to make them feel they are being taken care of.

In 2019, a total RM30 million was allocated to Unifor. Some 202 religious groups received assistance from the fund.

For this year (2020) the state government has allocated RM50 million.
